We are returning to our
Tai Chi class tonight. It's calming and we need to go back to our healthy
routine. When we first started the classes, our Tai Chi teacher taught us how
to greet him in Chinese. It took me many classes to remember the phrase. Once I
learned the pronunciation correctly, I was proud and confidently vocal.
I have an acupuncturist
who is Chinese. At my last appointment, I gave him a knowing grin and said
something sounding like "Long Zhoo How". I could see by his
expression, that he didn't understand what I said. So, I said it loudly and
slowly again. That's when he said he didn't understand why I was saying
"Hello Rat". Apparently, there's different ways of pronouncing
"zhoo". My zhoo is a rat. I will be whispering in class tonight.
